What’s new?

Here are the latest happenings at the Pasadena Model Railroad Museum:

  • We are now open to the public on the 3rd Sunday of every month. Please see our Visit PMRRM page for more information.
  • Our LCC installation is going well — we now have LCC in our major yards, which has allowed us to re-activate our classic anodized yard panels using the latest technology, something about which we are very excited.
  • We are beginning car order based operations, with cars moving between assigned locations. This is no easy task on a railroad that can hold up to 3,000 freight cars!
  • Signal installation continues apace, and we have experimented with using signals rather than voice dispatching (via tablets and monitors in the operating gallery) for portions of the Western Division, so far with great success.
  • In March 2020, the Museum members voted to rename the Hudson block after Larry Helscher. Larry, who passed away in 2016, bequeathed his estate to the Museum, enabling us to complete some much-needed repairs to the building and make investments that will help ensure the Museum’s financial future.
  • Our LED lighting conversion is complete! We now have day-night-day lighting sequences and they’ve been a big hit with visitors at the Open House.

Is there a project you want to get involved with? Want to learn more about model railroading? Or perhaps you just want to stop by and tell us we’re doing it wrong. Whatever your fancy, consider becoming a member of PMRRM!
